Coinciding with the Design District's Art + Design Night, Marimekko Miami's storefront windows will set the stage for ten students in a live performance produced by Fernando Calzadilla, a renowned performance artist and teacher at DASH. As one member of the pair focuses on design, the other will play the role of "bodybuilder"-their body operating as the support structure for the architecture/costume. Viewable from inside and outside of Marimekko's 3,157 square-foot store, the students' improvisations will be completely in-the- moment, a perfect warm-up for the coming Art Basel Miami Beach 2010 performance.Says Cristina Dominguez, owner of Marimekko Miami: "Our aim is to bring art to everyday life with timeless design at affordable prices." TV Smarts

The weekly TV Smarts programs published on this web site are based on the insights gained during 15 years of publishing of weekly television viewing recommendations parents with children of elementary, middle and high school age. Educational programming can be selected the same way a sports coach chooses food for the training diet for his or her team during the sports season. Some foods have valuable contents you can load up on when you are off the field – so you will perform well when you’re on the field. ? Finding programs to list involves checking the media schedules to find out what is available, what will air, come on the web or be released on video or in theatres in the coming week. Many programs of value are repeated several times after they first air, so children will have the opportunity to construct their viewing week to take maximum advantage of each day’s program list.http://www.tvsmarts.com/

Free Creative Writing Workshop

LOCATION: Northwest Regional Library- Coral Springs, FL
Northwest Regional Library
3151 University Drive
Coral Springs, FL 33065
Register at The Coral Springs Library Youth Services Desk
Call 954-341-3965
At the end of the workshop children will have a draft of their first submission to The Circle Gazette- A Newspaper by Children for Children.
The uniqueness of this workshop resides in our innovative approach. Most kids have grown to associate writing with heavy and boring feelings. At THE CIRCLE GAZETTE we believe in enlivening the concepts and presenting all this information in a reachable way (hands-on, fun work). Everybody is a great writer! We highlight the power of “telling stories” in a written way and minimize the overwhelming amount of technical details (grammar and theories) that usually steal the appeal and slow the creative process. However, proper writing is encouraged at all times but we approach it from a different angle: get the story first then be your own editor!
