Free Kids' Book from Barnes and Nobles


This summer, if your child reads eight books and fills out the 2010 Passport to Summer Reading, Barnes & Noble will give your son or daughter a free book.
To get the free book, your child must fill out the passport and track the characters’ adventures. From May 25 through Sept. 7, the young reader can swap the completed form for a book. The deal is for students in grades 1 through 6.
The list of free books to choose from includes popular characters like Curious George and Judy Moody; timeless authors like Beverly Cleary and Roald Dahl, and even a Rick Riordan book.

Half Price Games at Dave and Busters


Here’s a deal for game and arcade fans: Dave & Buster’s is offering half-price games all day on Wednesdays through the summer.
Dave & Buster’s is at 11481 NW 12th St., Miami; and 3200 Oakwood Boulevard, Hollywood.

Borders and Waldenbooks 2010 Summer Reading Program


Borders and Waldenbooks are double-dog daring kids to read more this summer. If they take part in the 2010 summer reading program and read 10 books, they’ll receive a free book (their choice of the titles below).
The offer is valid through Aug. 26 for children 12 and younger. These are the free books available as rewards for reading:

Annual Homeschool Spelling Bee

The purpose of a spelling bee is to help students improve their spelling,increase their vocabularies,learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives. This year's spelling bee location (TBA)

When: May 22th
Time: 12pm

RSVP by May 1 If you are interested, please email renayray1@yahoo.com with your child's name and grade(from Kindergarten to 8th grade). A fee of $3.00, which will go toward buying ribbons, and the participation certificates, is required of each student.

That deal is available for the Museum of Discovery & Science in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Free Friday at Miami Children's Museum


Every third Friday of the Month, Miami Children’s Museum has free admission from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. The program is sponsored by Target.
Events include interactive activities and crafts and storytelling. Children an also explore hundreds of bilingual, interactive exhibits related to arts, culture, community and communication.

Free Movie Fridays in Hollywood


No tickets required. Popcorn is optional.
ArtsPark in Downtown Hollywood is showing free family-friendly movies on Fridays.
Star Trek The Future Begins is on screen May 14.
ArtsPark Movie Nights events are a partnership with the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival.
The films are 8 p.m. outdoors at ArtsPark at Young Circle, on Hollywood Boulevard and US One, 954-921-3500.
